FOREWORD

This Gender Statistics on Labor and Employment (GSLE) produced by the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics aims to provide its clients the latest available data by gender on and labor and employment and related indicators, as well, as a picture of the sector over a period of time.  Specifically, it covers data on household population, economically active population, employment, underemployment, unemployment and hours of work.  These statistics are culled mainly from the results of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) conducted by the NSO can provide a useful overview of the changes that have undergone with the economically active population of the country.

With the approval of the NSCB Board Resolution No. 9 Series of 2009 on the “Official Methodology for Generating Annual Labor and Employment Estimates”, starting with this 2009 issue, only annual estimates based on the results of the four (4) LFS rounds will be included.  Likewise, we have included other available gender data on wages; manpower development, overseas workers, union membership, working children and youth employment.

The GSLE is a product of the efforts of various government agencies.  Primarily, we acknowledged the support and cooperation provided by the National Statistics Office (NSO), Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS), Technical Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
