The Current Labor Statistics (CLS), published quarterly by the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES), provides data users with macroeconomic statistics and administrative-based statistics related to labor and employment.

The January 2010 issue includes the preliminary results of the October 2009 round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) by the National Statistics Office (NSO).  The statistics on the following have been updated: indices of compensation and employment, average daily basic pay of workers, Consumer Price Index (CPI) and inflation rates, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross National Product (GNP), foreign investments, OFW deployment and remittances of Overseas Filipinos, workers assessed and certified under Philippine TVET qualification and certification system, maritime trainees given certificates, labor turnover rates and examinees and passers of various licensure examinations.  On the other hand, Table 1 was revised to highlight the Millennium Development Goals and Targets related to employment. Likewise, some administrative-based data from the operations of DOLE for January to September 2009 are provided.

The BLES would like to thank the agencies where the data were secured, specifically, the NSO, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS), and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).  Equally deserving of our gratitude are the various bureaus, regional offices and attached agencies of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for their continuing support to this publication.
